What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: BEWARE upper classmen that are trying to scare you. Nearly everyone I've met at WC is a friendly person, but don't believe everything you here. Always go out with a buddy, even if you stay on campus, and let your gut guide you. P.S.~ Your RA is your friend! Really, I am. :o)

What not to bring to college: Do not bring your entire wardrobe, shoe, and handbag collection. There is not enough room. I tried.
Why are you an RA: I want to be a guiding light like my RA's in the past have been for me.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Learn to manage your time well. Find the appropriate balance between work and play. If you work hard you can play hard (just not every night of the week :) ).

Favorite thing about Washington College: My favorite thing is how easy it is to get involved with campus groups. All the other students are so friendly and want new students to get involved!
What would you never leave at home for college: I would NEVER leave my ipod or cell phone at home!
What not to bring to college: Don't bring too many clothes or other things to school.
Why are you an RA: I'm an RA because I want to show others how great Washington College is, and I want to help them make the best of their living accommodations.
Where are you an RA: I'm the RA on the 4th floor of Minta Martin.
What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Freshmen should really talk and coordinate with their roommates over the summer. Figure out who will bring what appliances, and just try to get to know each other a little bit. Also know that your RA can give you help and suggestions about living in a dorm.

What would you never leave at home for college: 3M adhesive strips for posters, and a desk lamp so you don't keep your roommate awake when you have to study all night!
What not to bring to college: Extra furniture. Chances are, you won't have room for it.
Why are you an RA: I remember how nervous I was as an incoming freshman- I want to make that transition easier for the women on my hall.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Having goals is great, but having a hard-and-fast plan about how you think your college experience will be will only limit you. Be open to new opportunities and experiences, and enjoy your time here.

Favorite thing about Washington College: My favorite thing about WAC would have to be the people. There are so many interesting and wonderful people to get to know - professors, staff members, and of course fellow students.
What would you never leave at home for college: USB flash drive... very handy. What not to bring to college: I would definitely leave behind some pairs of shoes; you'll most likely end up wearing a favorite pair of flip flops as much as possible.
Why are you an RA: I am an RA for all the great perks! Just kidding. I love the sense of community found at WAC, and I wanted to become an integral part in that.
Where are you an RA: Queen Anne's Second Floor - a.k.a. best floor ever!
What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Come with an open mind; try something new. There are so many great clubs and groups at WAC. Get involved with something you may have never tried before be it ballroom dance, fencing, or an IM sport.

What would you never leave at home for college: besides the obvious things ...i would never leave without a rug...the tile floors are a bit nippy on the toes in the morning.
What not to bring to college: for a girl...not too many pairs of shoes or an abundance of clothing, spacing is limited.
Why are you an RA? I am an RA because I wanted the opportunity to be a leader, be available to help my residents with adjusting to their home away from home, and to make a few friends along the way.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Never be afraid to ask an upperclassman or a professor for help, they won't push you away. Definitely do not be afraid to try new things.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Understand that everyone here is in the same boat as you. They have left their close friends at home that they have been with for 18years. It's time to step outside of the box and start over by being the person you want to be. So step outside your comfort level and talk with everyone. It doesn't matter if they remember you or if you remember them. Just get out there and sooner rather then later great friendships will be made.

Why are you an RA: It's a great way to be involved in the college community and to also get to know other students on campus. Being an RA gives you the opportunity to help residents and make sure that their transition from HS to college a more pleasent one.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: College is an amazing experience! Don't take anything for granted and take advantage of everything that WAC has to offer. Make sure you make yourself known, to both students and professors and get involve in as many activities and clubs as you can.

Why are you an RA? Having a person willing to show me the ropes as a freshman was invaluable. I want to help my residents the way my RAs have helped me in the past.

What is one thing you believe the freshmen should know before coming: Get used to carrying your keys everywhere. They're expensive to replace and a pain to leave locked in your room.

What would you never leave at home for college: An open mind, a ton of enthusiasm, a curious spirit, and a smile. More practically, rain and snow boots (it's really difficult to keep an upright position on wet brick walkways in regular shoes)
